How to Prepare Items for Bulk Garbage Pickup

Make sure your bulky items are set out correctly so our bulk garbage pickup team can provide safe and efficient service. Preparation requirements may differ by service area, so please confirm local guidelines with your office before putting items out for pickup.

1. Keep items spaced out

Place all bulk items at least 5 feet away from cars, trees, mailboxes, and other obstacles, and 3 feet away from your regular trash bins.

2. Clear access for trucks

Ensure items are not blocking driveways or sidewalks so our bulk garbage pickup collection trucks can easily reach them.

3. Furniture and mattresses

Wrap or cover any fabric‑covered items in plastic before placing them at the curb.

4. Water‑holding items

Drain all liquids from items that can hold water. If draining isn’t possible, the liquid must be solidified before our large garbage pickup.

5. Refrigerators and freezers

Units containing freon must be serviced by a certified technician before collection. In some areas, our bulk rubbish pickup service may accept appliances with freon for an additional fee.

6. Oversized materials

Cut long items, such as poles or playground equipment, into 4-foot sections for a safe and efficient big garbage pick up.
